What is it?

The RoboMower is the next step in mowing evolution. The RL1000 is a fully automatic lawn mower that is designed to autonomously mow your lawn simply by pressing a button. The RoboMower has a full 21-inch width of cut, and can handle mowing the same types, thickness and heights of grass that a traditional gas walk mower can handle. The RoboMower is a cut-on-demand mower, meaning you choose when and how often to cut.

It features a cutting system that delivers a full 5.5 HP equivalent power at the blades. It is a dedicated mulching mower that mulches far better than a traditional mower because of the Triple-Chamber-Mulching system with a full 5800-RPM blade speed, almost twice that of a gas walk mower.

How does it work?

A single wire is pegged around the perimeter of the lawn. A low voltage signal is carried through the wire, establishing a 'virtual fence' for the RoboMower to operate within. It cannot operate without the signal in the wire and will only operate within the area defined by the wire. The RoboMower uses an onboard navigation system using the magnetic field of the earth to determine the most efficient method of mowing any given lawn. The RoboMower is constantly measuring aspects of the lawn to insure the most effective path and direction.

• Economical. Lower cost of ownership than traditional gas mowers - no tune-ups, fuel, oil changes and other normal repairs to worry about. Power pack life of 2-3 years and annual blade replacement are the only costs for using the RoboMower. Electricity usage for re-powering the power pack is less than $7.00 per year.
• Simple. Easy to use, no programming or complicated setup requirements. Easy one time setup of the wire in about 2 hours using only a hammer. Wire will disappear from sight in about two weeks.

Who can use the RoboMower?

The RoboMower is ideally suited for anyone that is currently using a walk behind mower to mow their lawn. The average customer using a walk behind is cutting about 4,000-5,000 square feet of grass. This is normally lot sizes of ½ acre and less, the typical suburban home. The RoboMower is capable of mowing approximately 6,000 square feet of grass in a single session, making it a perfect replacement for the walk mower. Many consumers use a lawn service because they have little time to mow their lawn. RoboMower can now save them that same time and a lot of money as well.

Many people enjoy working in their lawn or garden, but not mowing the lawn. RoboMower is the perfect answer. There are even those that use RoboMower that are physically disabled or suffer from severe allergies to normal mowing, allowing RoboMower to enhance the quality and freedom of their life.

What about trees and other obstacles in the lawn?

Trees and any other obstacles in the lawn are no problem for the RoboMower. The front and rear bumpers are equipped with low force sensors that allow the RoboMower to detect and work around most obstacles. Other obstacles, or areas such as flower beds or landscaped areas are excluded from the mowing area using the perimeter wire when performing the one time setup. Either way, RoboMower can easily handle lawns with obstacles and other landscaped areas.

Tell me a little more about Automatic Mowing?

Automatic mowing is a different 'mindset' to mowing, different from how we are accustomed to mowing our lawns today. We normally get out and mow it all in one session, spending the bulk of our free day off mowing the lawn. It is important to understand that automatic mowing is different, but in this case different is better. While the RoboMower is a breakthrough in technical design, it is no different than how the normal evolution in product design and application has occurred through the years. It is simply the next logical step in mowing, much what the automatic dishwasher was to the consumer when washing dishes by hand was the norm.

Typically, the RoboMower is set up to operate in two individual areas, normally the front yard and the back yard. The side yards can be included with the front or back - or treated as an individual area. This is normally done because of how the average lawn is laid out, with little access clearance from front to back yard - or possibly a fence separating the front and back. While at first it does not seem to be a good way to mow the lawn, automatic mowing will quickly makes good sense and you will soon love and appreciate mowing with the RoboMower. You will quickly adapt to mowing the lawn in different sessions, as now you can mow two to three times a week and keep the lawn always looking freshly cut. - Simply by pushing a button!

All that is needed is a little patience. It will take RoboMower a little longer to mow the same area as a walk mower, but if you are not doing the work it has little impact.
